I will put the videos up soon of these fights but first the explaination:This was a great event. These Kick Boxing/Jiu Jitsu Challenges are the best thing going right now for people looking to get some practice and fight outside their own martial art school. These events will prepare anyone for whatever their goals are in the future be it MMA, grappling tournaments or just to let off some steam from bad USA politics and rising prices of everything.
Jesse James Kosakowski, Jason Nadeau and Mel Torres fought last night.
Jesse fought both, a Muay Thai and a grappling match. His Muay Thai match, he fought the kid in a rematch that he bowed before in his last fight there. It looked like he basically dominated the fight. We were looking at the video on the way home and his combinations were landing like crazy. He used 18 ounce gloves but you can still hear those slapping noises of leather hitting. He fought rather aggressively this time though his foot work was still part of the game. In his grappling match he was up against a very strong kid. The kid he fought does not have the tournament experience that Jesse but it was a good fight anyway due to the strength and size difference. Jesse did his usual and caught the kid in an arm triangle. All 3 kids fought hard and they are all real warriors.
Jason Nadeau fought some good grapplers. He went up against some Purple Belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I have to say he basically dominated both fights. He avoided the usual stuff that is done in BJJ and performed hisIntegrated Grappling Systems (IGS) stuff with perfection. His first match, his opponent tried a flying arm bar but Jason is used to that and very aware of it so it failed. We all thought the guy broke his neck the way he landed. The guy was very good with the guard but we work hard on escaping and avoiding that situation so it took him out of his game and Jason got tight position seeking out subs. No sub because the time ran out. The next guy was completely dominated. He was taken out of his guard game and again, over whelmed by the IGS positions and then subbed with an arm triangle.
Mel Torres, lost his grappling match. The fight started off well but Mel did not fight like his usual self. All week long prior to the fight, he was not fighting like what he has been doing in the past month. He eventually got dominated and then subbed with an arm bar. He fought that arm bar with all his heart and ended up hurting his arm so he could not go on to the Muay Thai match. Muay Thai/JKD is his strong point and thats what we were waiting to see him do. He was a bit pissed but there will be plenty of others to fight. Like I said, there is nothing else like this going on ad its a great event to learn from and Mel learned from this one.
By the way, Mels son is going in for a surgery at the beginning of the week...a major surgery. I know this is on his mind. Though he is strong and does not show it, it is. Its a brain surgery so you folks put him in your thoughts. If you pray or wahtever, use the power of all our heads together for a complete recovery with no problems!
