I think you will like this 6 part video set. Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje describes each weapon...the use of, a brief history and the culture behind the weapons of the Traditional Filipino Weapons site. It is very educational. Let me know your thoughts:

Wow! Definitely worth the watch! I noticed that the quality is back up to running status, I take it breaking down the videos into different parts worked out after all?

I must say, the sound the Hagibis makes when you swing it, even on camera, is rather scary... Perhaps it's different in person, but on the video it sounded less of a whistle, and more like you were cutting through the air like you would paper! When I didn't watch the video, and just listened to the audio, it practically sounds like you're ripping the air... Or perhaps i'm listening to the wrong sound, lol

Either way, my 18th birthday is right around the corner, I think i'll have to pick one of these up! You know, to cut the cake... and the plate... and the table... and the floor...

Oh, out of curiosity, what type of handgun does Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje carry? I couldn't make much out with the distance from the weapon, the quality of the video, and the fact it was in a holster, but it looks a little like a GLOCK, and if GT Leo Gaje carries a GLOCK, well, he'll be even more of my hero!

Any way you look at it though, these were some quality videos! Everyone should watch them.

Actually, thats my Glock. He used it that day to show how the blade and the gun go together. Its some of the stuff military is learning now a days. Actually, that was a trick used back in WWI and WWII...it seems to be coming back due to resent circumstances.

Ah, very nice! I thought I spied a GLOCK...

I did like that part of the video, too, where he showed how a weapon like the karambit [I believe it was the karambit] could be used in modern warfare with a handgun and such, definitely something you wouldn't want to run into on the battlefield, especially with the tight quarters in which combat is usually fought these days.

Ron,

very interesting videos. I've never met or had a chance to train with Grand Tuhon Gaje, but it's really interesting how he reminds me very much of Dr. gyi, who I have met and worked under at a few seminars. They really seem to be kind of cut from the same cloth. You would really like the kukhri training and the stories Dr. Gyi would tell about how the Gurkhas would do their trench runs during the war. I think it's so interesting how the basic training with the Kukhri is really so simple, mainly because the fighting men in the military at that time coudn't afford to learn a system that would take fifteen years to master, but had to learn to become fairly proficient quickly. His K-bar training is also quite interesting.
Dr. Gyi is up there in age now, but still in pretty good health, so if you're able make a point of experiencing this man too, as you will get a similar but different take on knives and weaponry.

If I could use them I would; and if I did I would there for I don't but do marvel at the feeling and sensation that only can be met with such experances. Knife training is like porn right now for me; I hopoe to some day find my self ingadge in action and not wonder but abstenence is key for a man who only finds him self under a blade aleast 3 time's year since 2004.

Ill fracture your lip!

savage, i always assumed you trained filipino martial arts with ron. no kuntao or kali for you? i don't because i am practicing law and this kind of stuff will get me into trouble. i will stick to jkd and grappling. i did buy a few swords though and i plan on getting a few more. they look good on my walls.

You'se folks can go to google videos http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...22665289486351 to see it. That is if you are having a hard time seeing it on Youtube vids. Google is easier to see the whole show with no breaks. I should have put this in to begin with. Let me know yer thoughts on it!

I finally got a chance to look at these- great information here, not to mention the
marketing value for TFW!
The background and history behind the various blades was very informative, I am
happy with the choices I have made for my collection- and know which ones I will
be looking at in the future.
The last 2 clips show applications - I like the use of a Karambit with a handgun,
and the double blade / espada e daga demo with Ron. His effortless use of the
Balisong was quite impressive!
